Job Posting – Part-time Bilingual Reception and Casework Support Assistant

Community Legal Services of Ottawa / Services juridiques communautaires d’Ottawa is a community legal clinic, funded by Legal Aid Ontario. We provide legal services for the low-income residents of Ottawa, as well as community development, law reform, legal education and outreach initiatives.

We are seeking a Bilingual Reception and Casework Support Assistant for a 12-month part-time contract (14 hours/week), with possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

  • Front desk duties including answering and routing calls, making initial client contact, creating intakes, providing appropriate referrals, providing basic information regarding clinic services, and punctually opening the office for business each day;
  • Provide general administrative support to caseworkers including faxing, photocopying, filing, correspondence, document drafting, scheduling meetings, interpretation requests, and managing incoming documents;
  • Accurately record client intake details and referrals in clinic client management system;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Capacity to work in French is required;
  • Amazing client service skills and professionalism;
  • Experience working in an office environment;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Experience in responding sensitively to vulnerable clients’ needs;
  • Ability to efficiently multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment;
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe;
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to innovate, learn, and adapt to new tasks, policies, and procedures;
  • Experience working for a community legal clinic or other non-profit organization is an asset.

The salary for this position is $20/hour. The successful candidate must be available to work a full day on Fridays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
