Job Posting – Immigration and Refugee Lawyer – 18-month contract
Community Legal Services of Ottawa / Services juridiques communautaires d’Ottawa is a community legal clinic, funded by Legal Aid Ontario. We provide legal services for the low-income residents of Ottawa, as well as community development, law reform, legal education and outreach initiatives.
We are seeking an immigration and refugee lawyer for an 18-month contract to advise and represent clients on immigration and refugee law matters, provide summary advice on housing law to clinic clients and as Tenant Duty Counsel, and participate in law reform, policy advocacy and community-based initiatives. The lawyer will work closely with our staff teams and our partner organizations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Law Society of Ontario membership in good standing;
- Immigration and refugee law experience for vulnerable individuals;
- Capacity to work in French is preferred;
- Excellent oral and written advocacy skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively;
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and work in a high-volume environment;
- Ability to supervise students.

The salary range is $75,000 to $80,000 commensurate with experience and includes group benefits coverage and payment of LSO fees.
