Job Posting – Paralegal

Community Legal Services of Ottawa / Services juridiques communautaires d’Ottawa is a community legal clinic, funded by Legal Aid Ontario. We provide legal services for the low-income residents of Ottawa, as well as community development, law reform and legal education initiatives.
We are seeking a paralegal for a permanent position. The successful candidate will represent clients in income support matters including public benefits and workers’ compensation cases and will collaborate on community-based legal initiatives.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and represent clients primarily in income support matters
  • Provide legal advice in housing law
  • Provide duty counsel services for tenants at the Landlord and Tenant Board
  • Work closely with staff teams
  • Work closely with inter-clinic groups on matters pertaining to income support matters
  • Participate in law reform matters, public presentations, lobbying, policy advocacy and media work
  • Collaborate with partner organizations on community initiatives

Qualifications and Experience

  • Paralegal with Law Society of Ontario license in good standing
  • Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable individuals
  • Experience working on income support and WSIB matters is an asset
  • Community development experience
  • Capacity to work in French is a strong asset
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and working for change for vulnerable and marginalized groups
  • Excellent oral and written advocacy skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work collaboratively
  • Strong ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume environment
  • Excellent organizational and practice management skills

Anticipated start date: February 2026.  The salary range is $65,000 to $69,000 commensurate with training and experience.
