Job Posting – DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION
Community Legal Services of Ottawa / Services juridiques communautaires d’Ottawa is a community legal clinic, funded by Legal Aid Ontario. We provide legal services for the low-income residents of Ottawa, as well as community development, law reform, legal education and outreach initiatives.
We are seeking a Director of Administration for a permanent position. The responsibilities of this position include:
Main Responsibilities
- Oversee the overall human resource needs of the organization;
- Manage the financial administration of the clinic in close collaboration with the clinic’s Bookkeeper;
- Ensure compliance with all policies and relevant employment legislation;
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems to optimize efficiency;
- Work closely with the clinic’s Board and committees;
- Work closely with the Executive Director and the management team;
- Foster a positive and respectful work environment.
Qualifications and Required Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Human Resource role, preferably in a fast-paced non-profit organization;
- Knowledge of current best practices and research on diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace as well as the ability to stay up to date on emerging trends and issues in this area;
- Ability to apply relevant legislative requirements related to employment matters including occupational health and safety, accessibility and privacy;
- Experience in managing the financial administration of a legal clinic, not-for-profit organization, law firm or government department;
- Experience working with an HRIS system and processing payroll;
- At least 3 years of experience in a management or supervisory role;
- Post-secondary degree in management or business administration, or related experience;
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Superior ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively;
- HR certification will be considered an asset;
- Ability to travel to the clinic’s 3 locations as required.

The salary range is $80,000 – $93,000, commensurate with experience. Our compensation package includes a generous health benefits and pension plan.
